Homes For Veterans Mission Statement:
Homes for Veterans builds and donates specially adapted homes for severely disabled combat wounded veterans. If they have their own home we specially adapt it at no cost to them. We are a 501(c)(3) and 100% of the donations go to the veterans.
Homes For Veterans Nominate A Soldier We Will Build a Specially Adapted Home or Renovate Their Existing Home to be Barrier Free
If you know a disabled or handicapped soldier that would benefit from Homes for Veterans please let us know. There are certain criteria outlined by the United States government under the SAH (Specially Adapted Housing) Grant.
That application is to be filed with the Veterans Administration. Once that application has been reviewed and approved by the Veterans Administration the applicant will be sent a letter of approval.
For your convenience we have listed some of the criteria below.
a. The loss, or loss of use, of both lower extremities such as to preclude locomotion without the aid of braces, crutches, canes, or a wheelchair.
b. Blindness in both eyes having only light perception, plus loss or loss of use of one lower extremity.
c. The loss, or loss of use, of one lower extremity together with (1) residuals of organic disease or injury, or (2) the loss or loss of use of one upper extremity. Item (1) and Item (2) above must so affect the functions of balance or propulsion as to preclude locomotion without the aid of braces, crutches, canes, or a wheelchair.
d. The loss, or loss of use, of both upper extremities, so as to preclude use of the arms at or above the elbows.
e. The permanent and total disability is due to a severe burn injury (as so determined).
